Highland Park's water meter replacement program is underway! 

Property owners that have not yet had their water meter replaced should contact the tax/utility office at 732-819-3788 or taxclerk@hpboro.com to book their appointment for a meter replacement as soon as possible. The Borough has standard and ‘Sabbath-compliant’ water meters available.

The meter exchange typically takes no longer than 30 minutes. We ask you to please schedule as soon as you receive your letter and to provide them full access to the water meter area. This project is a critical component to the Borough’s ongoing efforts to upgrade its aging water infrastructure, to ensure sustainability of the system in the long term.   

Sabbath-Observant Meters

While In the process of rolling out this year's water meter replacement program, the Borough learned that the replacement water meters we purchased for this project presented challenges to Sabbath observance for some Jewish residents. The Borough was able to work with our vendor to swap out some of our standard meters for a Sabbath-compliant alternative. The additional cost for the 'Sabbath-observant' meter is a one-time $10/meter, which will be charged to customers that opt-in to this alternative.
