The Borough is pleased to report that our vendor, National Metering Services (NMS), has begun contacting residents who requested the 'Sabbath-observant' water meters and scheduling installations.
We have received 200 Sabbath-observant meters to start; however, more are likely needed to meet all the requests from residents. The additional meters will be in hand before the conclusion of the meter replacement program.
If you are interested in obtaining a Sabbath-observant meter, please contact National Metering Services directly at 1-888-448-0009 to express your interest and to schedule an appointment. If there are no meters available, they will add you to the waiting list and contact you directly once the additional meters are in hand. If you have already requested a Sabbath-observant meter, NMS will be calling you to schedule an appointment.
At the time of installation, we strongly recommend that you re-confirm with the technicians from National Metering Services that the meter about to be installed in your home is a Sabbath-observant meter. We are unable to reinstall older meters once they have been removed, so it is better to be sure prior to the replacement work as there may not be sufficient inventory of Sabbath-observant meters to re-replace in the case of an error.
To confirm that a Sabbath-observant meter is installed, lift the lid which covers the digital readout and watch to see if the numbers disappear after 20 seconds. If they do, that is a Sabbath-observant meter.
