Position Summary:

The Borough of Highland Park is seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a Public Works Laborer. This position requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and involves a variety of manual labor and maintenance duties in support of municipal operations, including road maintenance, sanitation, snow removal, and general public works activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 Operate and maintain heavy-duty vehicles and equipment (dump trucks, plows, loaders, etc.)

 Perform road repairs, storm drain cleaning, snow and ice control, and sanitation duties

 Assist with park, building, and grounds maintenance

 Safely load, transport, and dispose of materials

 Respond to emergency situations such as severe weather events

 Follow all safety and municipal guidelines and procedures

 Perform other related tasks as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 High school diploma or equivalent

 Valid Class B CDL (minimum) with air brake endorsement; Class A preferred

 Ability to perform physical labor in all weather conditions

 Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

 Must be available to work 6:30 and – 3:00 pm, Monday thru Friday

 Willingness to work occasional overtime, nights, weekends, and on-call shifts

 Must be able to wear Borough issued PPE, including but not limited to safety-toe boots

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 Previous experience in public works, construction, or related field

 Experience operating heavy machinery and trucks

Physical Requirements:

 Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more

 Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing

 Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
