We hear the word sustainable used often, but what does it really mean, how does it relate to our food systems and what does this have to do with art?
Join us for an Eco Art workshop centered around sustainable food systems and reducing food waste, where we will dive into these topics and more! Facilitated by local artist Sonya Elefante, this two-part workshop will explore themes of food waste and transformation, providing participants with an opportunity to create art from items that would typically be discarded. Together, we will learn about where our food comes from, how it gets to us, and what happens when we have more than we need.
In the first session we will create art individually, which we will combine into a community art piece during our second session. While making art we will discuss ways to support a more equitable food system, one that can ensure people have the food they need, minimize food waste, and be maintained for years to come!
Workshops are recommended to ages +12 up with a capacity of 40 people.
