  11. The Land Was Theirs Documentary

    June 26, 6:30 PM

The Land Was Theirs, set in New Jersey, is about Jewish farmers and their communities. It opens a window on the wider experience of immigrants who came to America in search of a better life and found it in the rural countryside. The new farmers, a minority group living in dynamic tension with the larger culture, managed to adapt to new lifestyles and conventions while maintaining their religious and cultural heritage. A surprising number of artists were raised on these farms and live in Highland Park and the surrounding community. The Highland Park Arts Commission will present this documentary film along with a panel of artists who have a connection to this subject.

    June 27, 7:00 PM

June 27 at 7 PM in the Senior/Youth Center at 220 So. 6th Avenue. Next week, the Borough's public safety team hopes to bring together the leadership of the HP First Aid Squad and RWJBH emergency services to discuss the issues and develop a proposal for moving forward. In the meantime, public safety continues to be the first and foremost concern. Police dispatch will be routing calls to RWJ Barnabas Health for all life support services during the daytime hours of 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Highland Park First Aid Squad will continue to be utilized for services from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., when volunteers are consistently more readily available. No changes will be made to advanced life support; those services will continue to be provided by RWJ Barnabas as they have been for quite some time.
