The Highland Park Redevelopment Agency was created in 2004 to stimulate investment in our commercial areas and to improve the economic vitality and quality of life in Highland Park. Authorized and organized under the provisions of the New Jersey Local Redevelopment and Housing Law, the Agency is an entity legally separate from the Borough of Highland Park existing for the purpose of implementing the Borough’s Redevelopment Plans.

The Agency serves as the implementation "arm" of the Borough's Redevelopment Plans and has all the powers vested in redevelopment agencies under the New Jersey Local Redevelopment and Housing Law. The HPRA is a public body that holds duly noticed public meetings where the business of the agency is discussed. As with all public entities, the agency is subject to the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Act.

Mission Statement of the Redevelopment Agency

The Highland Park Redevelopment Agency seeks to improve the quality of life for residents and to enhance the economic vitality of the Borough through implementation of Highland Park's Redevelopment Plan.  By focused development, the Agency strives to provide a safe, walk-able, mixed-use downtown and greater commercial opportunity while retaining the small town character of the Borough.
